Frequently asked questions..

What happens in the first session ?

The first session is the start of us working collaborately together. This will start with an initial assessment to find out more about the issues or difficulties you are wishing to get support with and develop a shared understanding of these difficulties. This will help me to gain an understanding of how we may work together and to enable you to get the most out of the therapy. I will also give you some more information about my services and ask you to complete a short client information form.

How long does each session last?

Sessions last for 50 minuites.

When do you offer appointments?

I am flexible and can offer most appointment times to suit you.

Are the sessions confidential?

Yes, anything said within the session is completely confidential.  However, if during the course of therapy I have concerns that you may harm yourself or another person (or there are concerns about potential harm from others), or if any safeguarding issues arise, then I may need to discuss with other professional bodies, I will always inform you of my decision to do so should the very rare need arise.

How much do the sessions cost?

£40 for an individual (50 min session) and £65 for couples (60 min session)

How many sessions will I need?

The number depends upon the issues and severity.  Short term therapy can be between 8 and 12 sessions and I will initially contract for 6 sessions and then review at the end of this period. I also offer long-term therapy that can be for months or years, depending on the individual.

What is your cancellation policy?

I require a minimum of 24 hours notice for a cancellation; otherwise you will be charged for the session.
